17th September brought a double header in the Road Safety World Series. Although the two matches were contrary to each other in terms of runs scored, the two were very similar in competitiveness and entertainment factor.

Let’s look at the match report for both the matches in RSWS 2022.

Match 8: Bangladesh Legends vs New Zealand Legends

After getting thumped in their respective first matches, both teams would have looked to get the first taste of victory in the second. It could only however be one who could end up on the right side of the result and it was New Zealand Legends.

After winning the toss, the Kiwis decided to bowl first and invited Bangladesh Legends to set up a target. The two Bangladesh openers failed spectacularly as they got out and zero and one respectively. Aftab Ahmed walked into bat in the rain-affected match but could not produce a big knock himself. Alok Kapali (37*) and Dhiman Ghosh (41*) were the two batters who took the team to a respectful 98/3 in 11 overs. Kyle Mills was the pick of the bowlers from the New Zealand side as he took two wickets.

Coming onto chasing the total, New Zealand made it look too easy despite losing a quick wicket in the beginning. Dean Brownlie (31*) and captain Ross Taylor (30*) remained unbeaten to take their side to a well-deserved victory in just 9.3 overs. NZL move to fifth after the victory while BD-L remains at seventh.

On the back of a classy inning from captain Ian Bell (46) and Rikki Clarke (50), England were able to reach 156/5 in 20 overs.

Krishmar Santokie and Sulieman Benn took two wickets each to halt the English surcharge to a chaseable total.
