Ricky Ponting gives an update on the availability of star Australian batter

Delhi is going through a roller coaster ride in their campaign of the Indian T20 League 2022. They won their first match against the most successful team in the tournament’s history, Mumbai by four wickets. But lost in their last encounter against Gujarat while chasing a target of 172 runs.

Delhi is having problems fielding its full quota of overseas players in the first eleven as many of the important members of the squad have been unavailable for the first two games. The head coach of the team, Ricky Ponting has confirmed the availability of their star opener David Warner for the next match, after their defeat against Gujarat. He also revealed that another important member of the team, South African pacer Anrich Nortje will also be available for the same.

Ponting also spoke about Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh’s availability and hoped that he will be available after their match against Lucknow. Notably, Anrich Nortje has been away from cricket due to his back and hip injury since November last year. On his development, Ponting said that the speedster is looking fit and bowling well in the nets.

“Nortje bowled 100% this morning in the warm-ups. I think he has to get through another maybe four or five-over spell at 100% capacity and then I think if he gets clearance from Cricket South Africa, he should be right to go. We have got a few more days before our next game, so hopefully, he is available for selection for that one,”- Ponting said during a post-match conversation with the media after the Gujarat match.

Delhi will play their next match against Lucknow on the 7th of April. David Warner will be available for selection in that match and so will be Nortje. But Mitchell Marsh will probably miss out on that match as he is still recovering from his hip strain.
