Retired Pakistan all-rounder set to play in Big Bash League with Melbourne stars

The most recent news is that Imad Wasim, the Pakistani all-rounder has joined the Melbourne Stars. He will be a key part of the Stars squad for the forthcoming Big Bash League (BBL) season 13, marking his quick comeback to professional cricket. The 34-year-old, who said goodbye to international cricket on the 24th of November, is going to join the Stars to strengthen their roster for the tournament’s final games.

Wasim has experience in the BBL, having played for the Melbourne Renegades in the past. This time, he’ll be sharing the Melbourne Stars changing room with fellow countrymen Haris Rauf as well as Usama Mir. Blair Crouch, general manager of the Stars, highlighted Wasim’s lower-order hitting abilities and left-arm spin while expressing his delight over his selection.

The Stars’ first three games will certainly feature English bowling all-rounder Liam Dawson. Meanwhile Wasim’s addition is viewed as a calculated tactic to strengthen the squad’s spin-bowling options and bolster the batting order. Imad is a great asset since he can bowl in the power play. Along with that, his expertise could help the Stars win a lot of games.

Wasim played for Pakistan across 55 ODIs as well as 66 T20Is. The middle-order batter was able to make his debut on the international scene against Zimbabwe in May 2015. He demonstrated his abilities as a dependable lower-order batsman and a cunning left-arm orthodox bowler throughout his career.

He has taken 109 wickets and scored 1,472 runs during his international career. The all-rounder is now one of the most experienced T20 players in the world. Wasim was selected for the Islamabad team and lately chose not to participate in the current National T20 in Karachi. Rather, he is now playing for the Deccan Gladiators during the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2023.
