IPL 2024
RCB’s Predicted Starting XI for IPL 2024
Royal Challengers Bangalore might look to finally win their first IPL championship in the upcoming season.
Six new players were bought by the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s lineup for the next 2024 season during the auction held in Dubai on Tuesday. The team is still vying for their maiden Indian Premier League (IPL) crown. The team’s batting is still one of the best on paper and might build on that during the season.
They have added some key players to their bowling and they may have solved the problem of a weak death bowling line-up. The addition of crucial overseas pacers has surely taken the load from Mohammed Siraj. Their spin bowling might be one of their weak areas but key performances can help them a lot throughout the season. Let’s take a look at how the Bangalore-based franchise might line-up during IPL 2024.
Predicting Royal Challengers Bangalore’s playing XI after IPL Auctions 2024
1) Top Order (Faf du Plessis, Cameron Green, Virat Kohli)
Without a shadow of a doubt, the Royals Challengers Bangalore skipper Faf Du Plessis would be opening the batting. He has been in stellar form in other T20 leagues around the world as well. But this time around he may have a different batting partner as compared to last season so fans may wonder how their partnership may fare.
Cameron Green might be opening the batting with the South African international. The Australian all-rounder’s best innings have come at the top of the order. During his last IPL season, Mumbai Indians tried him at various positions. But he struggled to fare against spinners, which might tempt the franchise to make him open the innings.
This change would allow Virat Kohli to bat at his preferred spot of number three. Considering that the T20 World Cup is coming up, Virat might look to strengthen his case as a solid number three during the IPL. With the franchise’s best batter at number three, he might look to finish off games with solid partnerships.
2) Middle order (Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell, Mahipal Lomror, Dinesh Karthik)
The best news for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and its fans is the return of Rajat Patidar to the squad. He missed a major chunk of 2023 sitting on the sidelines with injury. His form in the middle-order is crucial to the side’s chances of qualifying to the play-offs.
The Royal Challengers Bangalore would now depend on Glenn Maxwell to be as lethal as possible whenever he comes to bat. With the Australian talisman batting at number five, he can finish off tricky situations as well as go with an all-out attack approach during the death overs. Maxwell’s presence at number five surely strengthens the team’s middle order.
The form of Mahipal Lomror and Dinesh Karthik can prove to be key for the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Their poor run of form meant the onus of the batting was on the top order. But the franchise has kept faith in the duo and they have to form in at least a few of the games in order to increase their chances for the play-offs.
3) Bowlers (Mayank Dagar, Alzarri Joseph, Yash Dayal, Mohammed Siraj)
The Royal Challengers Bangalore had traded Mayank Dagar from the Sunrisers Hyderabad. This is a key acquisition since his fielding and bowling skills have always been under the radar. If he is able to bowl tight lines just like last season, then he can surely be a great asset for the team in the long run. His fielding abilities make him one of the best in the country currently.
The pace bowling depends on how the Indian bowlers fare during the IPL season. Their new ball bowling has always been a strength with the presence of Mohammed Siraj. The purchase of Yash Dayal for the powerplay and death overs shows that they have faith in the bowler. Alzarri Joseph can be one of the key bowlers for the side during the middle overs and can scalp wickets at the death. The bowling might look weak on paper, but under the right guidance can do wonders throughout the season.
