RCB will face UP at their home ground, M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on February 24. The Smriti Mandhana-led team finished fourth last season after winning two out of eight matches. On the other hand, Warriors were third with four wins and as many as losses. Both teams shared a win each in the two matches they met last year.
The Bangalore-based franchise retained a total of 11 players from last season and picked seven players in the 2024 mini-auction. Meanwhile, UP retained 13 players and bought five players. Without further ado, let’s take a look at those three players who are capable of setting the stage on fire in Saturday’s match.
#3. Shweta Sehrawat (UP)
Sehrawat is one of the 13 players retained by UP from the last edition. The 19-year-old got off to a stellar start in her career. She was the highest run-scorer in the U-19 World Cup and the captain of the India A team that won the Emerging Asia Cup in Hong Kong. All these decorations make her a standout player to keep an eye on during the RCB vs UP match. UP Warriorz skipper Alyssa Healy also expressed hope that Sehrawat will excel in the upcoming season.
#2. Shreyanka Patil (RCB)
Predominantly known for her bowling prowess, Shreyanka Patil is also impactful with the bat in the lower order. She was the leading wicket-taker for RCB in the inaugural WPL season, securing 6 wickets in 7 matches at an average of 32.00. She scored 62 runs at a staggering strike rate of 151.21. The 21-year-old also made a fine international debut in both T20Is and ODIs. RCB skipper Smriti Mandhana has also pinned her hopes on Shreyanka to shine in the upcoming season.
#1. Vrinda Dinesh (UP)
Vrinda Dinesh will be in the spotlight throughout the season. The Karnataka player became the second most expensive uncapped player in the league history when UP roped her in for a whopping Rs. 1.3 crore in the 2024 auction. Dinesh excelled with the bat in the last two domestic seasons. She played a crucial role in Karnataka’s run-up to the final of the Senior Women’s One-Day tournament.
