Rajasthan ropes in Lasith Malinga as fast bowling coach for Indian T20 League 2022
Ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian T20 League, 2008 winners Rajasthan has appointed veteran Lasith Malinga as the fast bowling coach. The pacer played in the Indian T20 League till 2019. Ahead of the 2020 season, he announced his retirement from the franchise cricket. Notably, he played all his games for Mumbai.
The 2014 World Cup-winning skipper played 122 games for the five-time winners and picked 170 scalps. This is not the first time the yorker specialist will play the role of coach. In 2018, he played the role of mentor of the Mumbai team. Last month, he was appointed as the bowling strategy coach for the Sri Lanka team for the T20I series against Australia.
Meanwhile, the 38-year-old said that he is honoured to work with the franchise, which has promoted young talent. The Galle-born player added that he is excited to work with the pace bowling unit and is looking forward to supporting them. The team has bought pacers such as Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Navdeep Saini, Obed McCoy, and Nathan Coulter-Nile.
