In yet another thriller of the Indian Premier League 2023, Gujarat Titans beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets at their home ground in Mohali. Riding on Shubman Gill’s brilliant half-century, Gujarat Titans chased down 154 runs in 19.5 overs. However, speaking about the game in the post-match presentation ceremony, Gill made a cheeky remark about all-rounder Rahul Tewatia.

His remarks went viral on social media. Notably, Gill, who scored 67 runs off 49 balls, got out in the last over before finishing the game. Speaking about the same, Gill admitted that he should have finished the game. Further, he said that Rahul Tewatia loves Punjab so he finished the game.

“Wicket got a bit challenging in the end. Was harder to hit sixes with the old ball. It’s a big ground. Was important to keep hitting the gaps, and run as hard as possible. I should’ve finished the match. Rahul Tewatia and Kings XI Punjab (Punjab Kings) is a love story. In these types of games, there’s pressure on both teams. It’s about trying to minimise dot balls”, said Gill after the game.

Rahul Tewatia’s love affair with Punjab Kings!

Notably, Rahul Tewatia’s love affair with Punjab Kings is a secret hidden from none. His amazing back-to-back five sixes against Sheldon Cottrell in IPL 2020 has helped his team Rajasthan Royals to pull an amazing victory. Meanwhile, speaking about the game, after being asked to bat first, Punjab Kings had a shaky start.

Both the Openers were dismissed in no time after they failed to handle the pacers in the powerplay. PBKS continue to lose wickets at regular intervals and failed to post a good total. With the help of Matthew Short’s 36 and Shahrukh Khan’s 9-ball 22, teams managed to post the below-par total of 153-8 in 20 overs.

Chasing 150-odd runs went smoothly for the defending champions as they continued their dominance in the game. Openers Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha scored 67 off 49 and 30 off 19 respectively. Their innings helped Gujarat to reclaim the top spot on the points table. Meanwhile, on Friday, Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in the iconic Eden Gardens.
