The Indian T20 League has seen a lot of unknown players being unearthed out of nowhere. This includes local as well as overseas talents. Thus, a lot of players have made their careers out of this league. However, there have been a few instances where some players don’t get a single opportunity in an entire season. There are quite a few reasons for this. One is the number of players in the squad which is a maximum of 25 although the number might vary.

Another reason for this is sometimes a particular player doesn’t fit in the playing XI. One such incident has happened in the ongoing season. Uncapped England all-rounder Benny Howell didn’t get to play a single game of the 15th season. The team played their last game of the season against Hyderabad as they were eliminated from the race to the playoffs.

The team was expected to try out different players so that they can an idea about which players could be retained for the next season. However, the 2014-finalists fielded their first-choice players. This is why the 33-year-old didn’t play the game. After the toss, the all-rounder took to Twitter to post an emoji.

The emoji looks like a cryptic message which seems as if he is trying to ask why he was warming the bench for a whole season.

Talking about the player, Howell was born in France and has played a lot of T20 cricket around the globe. The medium-pacer has played for Peshawar Zalmi in PSL, Melbourne Renegades in BBL, Khulna Tigers and Chattogram Challengers in BPL, the first and second XIs of Gloucestershire and Hampshire, and Birmingham Pheoniz in The Hundred.

He is a vastly experienced player with 157 games to his name. The right-arm bowler has picked 163 wickets averaging 21.57, striking at 18. He has an economy rate of 7.18, and his best figures are 18/5. With the bat, he has scored 2122 runs batting in the middle order.
