PSL: Mohammad Hafeez blasts James Faulkner for tarnishing Pakistan’s image

James Faulkner, who was representing Quetta Gladiators in the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 2022) shockingly withdrew from the tournament, accusing the PSL and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) of not honouring his contractual and payment obligations. The Australian all-rounder also reportedly damaged the hotel property and misbehaved with the staff and immigration officials.

Meanwhile, veteran Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has come forward and said that the national cricket board must take action against Faulkner as such incidents spoil the country’s reputation in the world. At the same time, Hafeez also said that he did not expect his Australian counterpart to behave in such a manner that was uncalled for.

“It really hurt as a Pakistani. Because the way we take care of our overseas player and respect them, I haven’t seen that in any part of the world. That is why it hurt, especially because I was not expecting this from Faulkner. Last year we played a season together and I found him very professional”, said Hafeez while speaking to Samaa TV.

“But again, if such an episode takes place because of his attitude then wasn’t good. And in the last seven seasons, I haven’t heard a single complaint from a Pakistani cricketer or an overseas player on financial concerns. I feel the allegations were wrong on Pakistan cricket and PCB must take an action on it,” he added.

After this incident, the PCB has decided that James Faulkner would never be included in the PSL draft going forward and it remains to be seen whether any kind of action would be taken against the Australian cricketer for his arrogant behaviour.
