In the ninth game of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023, India and Pakistan locked horns. It was a reverse fixture between two teams this tournament, The Men In Blue made the most of their batting opportunity as the likes of Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya shone with the bat. Meanwhile, in this game, they were asked to bat first after losing the toss.

The seven-time winners had a much different start. India openers, skipper Rohit Sharma (56 including four sixes and six fours) and Shubman Gill (58 including 10 fours) helped the team put together 121 runs. However, both openers failed to convert their start to centuries. The team was reduced to 126/2. Also, after 24.1 overs, the game was interrupted by rain which meant that the game was shifted to the reserve day.

On the second day, the seven-time winners dominated and showed the Pakistan side that choosing to bowl first was a bad idea.

On the second day, it was raining heavily in the lead-up to the reserve day. Despite the game starting after 100 minutes of the scheduled start, the overs weren’t reduced. After the first few overs, KL Rahul started attacking the likes of Shadab Khan and Iftikhar Ahmad. On the other hand, Virat Kohli also started playing his shots too. Both players scored a hundred with Rahul scoring his maiden hundred against the Green Brigade. They helped the team reach 356/2, their highest team total against Pakistan since ODI cricket started.

Meanwhile, the two-time champions were never in the game and kept losing the wickets. Starting with the new ball, the team kept losing wickets with Fakhar Zaman struggling with the bat. Kuldeep Yadav took his first five-wicket haul and helped the team bowling out Pakistan for 128 runs, winning the game by 228 runs.
