Despite this, the big global trophy has still to materialise. There are voices in the Indian Cricket Board that support keeping Dravid as head coach. The thinking behind this decision is to bring some balance and consistency in the senior team.

From December 10, 2023, to January 7, 2024, India is slated to be in South Africa. They will be playing three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Test matches. India will play in the T20 World Cup in the United States and the West Indies in June 2024. The Indian players will also be involved in the Indian Premier League season from March 2024.

VVS Laxman may serve as the team’s coach throughout the white-ball leg of the series. This will also give him a firsthand assessment of the “A” team. Laxman is presently playing in the upcoming T20I series between Australia and the Indian senior side.
