Shan Masood

Pakistan cricketer Shan Masood has been making the headlines as his old conversation with a journalist has come to light. A conversation between Masood and a female journalist from Pakistan has been doing the rounds on social media which dates back to 14th February 2013. Screenshots of the conversation show the batter bragging about his grades in Economics, Business Studies, and Maths. He’s further seen offering his tuition services to the journalist.

Masood made his international debut for Pakistan way back in 2013 when he played a Test against South Africa in Abu Dhabi. He’s played 25 Tests for his country scoring 1378 runs at an average of 29.  He has played five ODIs scoring 111 runs at an average of 22 with one half-century to his name.

In the shortest format of international cricket, he has played three matches scoring 72 runs having a half-century to his name. He scored a brilliant 66 not out against England in the third T20I. An opening batter by default, Pakistan’s Shan Masood grabbed the opportunity to bat in the middle order and was the lone positive among the hosts in this match.

Having been playing international cricket for almost nine years now, Masood made his T20I debut earlier this week. It was only his second innings in the shortest format that Masood brought up a maiden half-century to somehow steer Pakistan past the 150-run mark. Known for his work ethic and stupendous run-scoring ability in domestic cricket, Masood has literally earned a T20I debut on the back of consistent performances for Multan Sultans and Derbyshire Falcons in recent years.

Masood’s one-man show for Pakistan caught the attention of former fast bowler Mohammad Amir, who took to social media platform Twitter to highlight how the 32-year-old player has proved a point by contributing in the middle-order. Having been brought into the team as a replacement for Fakhar Zaman, Masood might be seen batting at his No. 3 position during the 20-20 World Cup 2022.
