Pak vs Aus: White-ball series moved to Lahore due to political turmoil in Pakistan

Pakistan vs Australia

Pakistan is currently hosting Australia for the all-format series, which started on March 4. This is the first time since 1998 that an Australian team has visited the South Asian country. Both teams are currently playing the three-match Test series, with the first two games in Rawalpindi and Karachi ending in a draw. The last game will be played from March 21 in Lahore.

Meanwhile, the political situation in Pakistan is not that great. Pakistan PM Imran Khan is set to face a no-confidence motion from the opposition and there is a sense of nervousness in the country. Suspecting a situation of unrest in the country, the PCB has shifted the white ball matches between Pakistan and Australia to Lahore. The matches were to be played in Rawalpindi. The news does not come as a surprise as a PCB official had already conveyed the same.

“All the four white-ball matches will be shifted to Gaddafi Stadium where teams are set to play the final Test of the series starting from March 21 in case the political situation in Islamabad stays the same till March 20,” the official said as reported by Cricket Pakistan.

. Both teams are already in the city for the last Test. The three-match ODI series will start on March 29, with games on March 31, and April 2. The sole T20I will be played on April 5.

Meanwhile, the visitors will field new faces during the white-ball games as the likes of David Warner, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, and Pat Cummins are rested. The likes of Nathan Ellis, Jason Behrendorff, and Sean Abbott will play in place of the frontline pacers.
