After his team lost the toss and was put to bat, Jos Buttler began the assault. But he gave in to 39 and had to go back to the pavilion. To make sure they sewed a strong alliance, Mitchell Van Buuren entered the picture and partnered with David Miller. They put up 141 over the fourth wicket, and Paarl’s total on the scoreboard was enormous.

Lungi Ngidi was on point to remove the dangerous opener Phil Salt and Theunis de Bruyn. It was going to be an uphill task for the hosts to chase the massive total from there.

Will Jacks and Rilee Rossouw got together to take the innings forward. They ensured to take their side out of the trouble and got some valuable momentum for their team. The Pretoria Capitals required 107 runs from the final 10 overs with eight wickets in hand. With good batting depth, they would have fancied to chase this total down with ease.

The 147-run partnership came to an end when Bjorn Fortuin removed Will Jacks’ as he bowled him out to send the batter back to the pavilion. Rossouw continued the onslaught from one end as he made a valuable 82 off 45 balls. But he was dismissed just in time by Lungi Ngidi to give hope to the Royals.

The Paarl Royals bowlers delivered some excellent balls and the batters did not have any answer to their deliveries. Lungi Ngidi was the star of the show as he scalped four wickets as his side won a close encounter by 10 runs.
