Team India got a reality check in the second Test at the brand-new Optus stadium in Perth. They were on the back-foot since the first day and the hosts deservingly took the second Test. The series was level and poised for an exciting finish.
The iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground hosted the third Test of the series on Boxing Day. It was India’s series to dominate from there on in as they smashed the hosts without respite. In 2018, Indian cricketers made history as they won their first-ever Boxing Day Test match on Australian soil. India achieved a historic victory against Australia by 137 runs in the match, which was played.

With their historic Boxing Day Test victory, Team India entered the final test with a lot of confidence. They won the toss and kept Australia out of the game from the start itself. They were about to write a lot more records then.
Afterwards, Day 4 that was cut short due to poor light and rain, but India thoroughly outplayed the Australians in Sydney, bowling them out for 300 in response to their own alarming 622 for seven. Then, as Kohli tightened the knife, Australia had to endure the disgrace of having to follow-on in its own backyard for the very first time in thirty years.
The match had to be abandoned and that day confirmed that Team India won their first ever series in Australia. The side has won the first Test in an Australian series for the first time. Being the first Indian skipper to beat Australia in their own backyard made captain Kohli’s victory more memorable.
