As the stage is set for the mini-auction of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024), fans and cricket pundits are expecting a high-voltage drama. As the team will fight to rope in 75 players, including 30 foreign players, from the auction, everyone is looking for the official announcement of the auctioneer.

Notably, last year IPL auctioneer Hugh Edmeades fainted while doing the proceedings. It’s worth noting that, keeping all things in mind, the Indian Cricket Board is looking for a young man or woman to handle the pressure. One of the names speculating on social media platforms is Mallika Sagar. She auctioned women’s Premier League players last year.

This year, Mallika headed the Pro Kabaddi League 2023 auctions. However, fans were unhappy with her approach, which many called boring. However, according to reports, the Indian Cricket Board and the governing council of the Indian Premier League have asked her to stay in Dubai during the period. It’s worth noting that the auction will take place on December 19 at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.

More than 400 players from all around the globe are likely to be part of the auction. Out of them, almost 75 will get bids from ten franchises. Top players like Rachin Ravindra, Mitchell Starc, Karun Nair, and Manish Pandey are likely to be in demand. As teams will be looking at players for just a single edition, they will unlikely see some surprising buys.

However, bowlers will be the most demanded asset in the upcoming auction. As almost every team is looking for top foreign pacers and quality Indian spinners in the auction, the action will unfold on December 19.
