New Zealand star batter’s emotional message for Ross Taylor

Published on

Ross Taylor played his last international match for New Zealand in the last and final ODI against the Netherlands. The moment was emotional for Ross Taylor as well his teammates.

Martin Guptill, the explosive Kiwi opener, who has been Taylor’s colleague for long, shared an emotional tribute for his teammate. His message was a revelation of how much Taylor was loved and respected in the dressing room. “This is it. This is the last time we saw him walk out of the New Zealand team. It’ll be even more emotional when we wake up tomorrow morning and Ross is no longer going to be there. It will be tough, but we will have a good night tonight, celebrating the Netherlands vs New Zealand series,”-said Guptill in a statement.

“Rosco is an absolute legend, and all of us are going to miss him around the group. He has been phenomenal and absolutely lovely and hopefully, we can catch up over the coming years,”- Guptill further added.

Ross Taylor in his career played 236 ODI matches for New Zealand, scoring 8607 runs in them at an average of 47.52. He was an important part of New Zealand’s Test team also. In the longest format of the game, he scored 8602 runs with 21 hundreds to his name. He also featured in 102 T20Is for the black caps.

However, Taylor might not have the desired end to his career with the bat. He just scored 26 runs in his last international series. But his team won the series comfortably whitewashing the Netherland in the three-match ODI series.
