‘Naye owners dhoondhlo, zyada acha hoga’ – Fans react to reports of Sunrisers Hyderabad on the look-out for new head coach
Sunrisers Hyderabad had a very difficult IPL 2023 season and would be looking at a major overhaul of the coaching staff as well as the squad
After parting ties with Lucknow Supergiants last week, Andy Flower is reportedly in talks with Sunrisers Hyderabad for the position of Head Coach. Brian Lara is the head coach of SRH at the moment, but a Cricbuzz article indicates that the former West Indies captain may leave the Indian Premier League team.
Since their first title triumph back in the Indian Premier League in 2016 under David Warner, SRH has not been able to win the title. The team has struggled to maintain the same level of consistency since then and has only made it to the playoffs three times, finishing second in 2018.
In the previous three years, the team experienced three consecutive league stage exits which are not at all expected with the kind of performances they showed in the early years of their IPL existence. The 2016 champions are searching for a new head coach. Although both the franchisee and Lara stay discreet on the subject, there are rumours that Lara won’t longer be connected to the team based in Hyderabad.
The new coaching staff for the Royal Challengers Bangalore
According to sources, Royal Challengers Bangalore have fired team director Mike Hesson and head coach Sanjay Bangar after the team missed the playoffs the previous season. The team claims that the contracts of team president Mike Hesson, as well as head coach Sanjay Bangar, continue to be in effect and that no evaluation of their 2023 campaign, in which they failed to advance to the playoffs, is yet to be started.
For the sake of transparency, it must be noted that Bangar’s contract with the organisation runs through December 31, while Hesson’s contract is valid through August 31. Under the duo, who slotted in 2019 after the squad had two consecutive years of poor performance, they reached the playoffs three years in a row before being defeated by a scorching Shubman Gill, who finished their playoff hopes in the most recent season with an outstanding century in the crucial final league-stage match.

Till 2020 sunrisers were going csk mi way, making playoffs year after year, retaining most of the core, same supporting staff, really were on their way to be third best franchise, but it all gone downhill since 2021. Lost all their core, bottom finishes, coaches changing lost way

Instead, they ought to explore options for selling a majority stake and bringing in new owners. The current approach of the SRH management in constantly changing players and coaching staff seems futile.

Someone will pick Sanjay Banger and Mike Hesson outta nowhere and they'll win their debut IPL title. Mark the date. I said it first here.
