Naveen-Ul-Haq joins DSG squad to take part in SA20 2024
Naveen-ul-Haq is all set to represent DSG in the ongoing SA20 2024. The star pacer joined the squad of DSG after he got the NOC from ACB. Along with Fazalhaq Farooqi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Naveen was denied the NOC to take part in the T20 leagues as the three had requested the board to release them from the central contracts.
The three bowlers thought of doing so to be in reckoning in the T20 leagues. However, Afghanistan acted strictly against the three and imposed a ban of three years on the individuals. As a result, Naveen and others could not take part in the SA20 2024’s first week. Mujeeb had to leave the BBL 2023/24 midway while playing for Melbourne Renegades.
Recently, Afghanistan relaxed the ban on the three upon thinking about their decision for the 2nd time. Following the decision, Naveen flew to SA and joined the squad of DSG. The SA20 2024 side who are flying in the tournament currently having won all their three matches, are strengthened by the inclusion of the right-arm pacer. Even the commissioner of the league, Graeme Smith, is happy about the decision.
‘Teams pulling out all the stops and bringing in some world-class players’ – Graeme Smith
After Naveen and Marcus Stoinis joined the squad of DSG, Grame felt happy with the fact that the franchises were trying to bring in the best players in the world to play for them. “We can see the teams pulling out all the stops and bringing in some world-class players into their squads. It’s great to have the calibre of these players joining the league,” said Graeme after Naveen joined the squad of Durban Super Giants.
Afghanistan conducted a press release and confirmed the lift of the ban on the three cricketers. The board commented that they would monitor the players and provide them the balance to take part in the T20 leagues and represent the country at the same time. “ACB will strictly consider the issuance of the NOCs to the respected players while prioritizing the national duty and ACB’s interests,” claimed Afghanistan’s board in their statement.
