‘Mumbai Indians phir jeet legi’ – Fans react as schedule for Women’s Premier League 2024 gets released

The Women’s Premier League’s second season will begin on February 23 in Bengaluru with a rematch from the 2023 edition final featuring the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Mumbai Indians (MI). The 2024 season is reportedly scheduled to take place in two cities: Bengaluru and Delhi. The final is scheduled to take place in Delhi on March 17.

Similar to the previous season, there will be 22 games in the 2017 WPL season, with all five clubs playing each other twice. The team with the highest point total at the end of the league schedule will automatically qualify for the championship game. To go to the final, the teams who place second and third against one another in an elimination round will play one other. 

All of the games may start in the later hours under the lights because there don’t appear to be any double header matches on the weekend, according to the leaked schedule. The first Women’s Premier League (WPL) was won by the Mumbai Indians (MI), under the direction of Harmanpreet Kaur. In the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai, they emerged victorious over the Delhi Capitals (DC), captained by Meg Lanning.

The competition’s inaugural season was a huge success. As a result, there is a clear increase of the total number of franchises and the adoption of the home-and-away model as the years go by.

The 17th Indian Premier League (IPL) season is expected to begin on March 22. It would be exactly five days after the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is supposed to end. The Indian Premier League (IPL) will conclude on May 26, which is only five days prior to the T20 World Cup across the Caribbean and West Indies kicks off. 

The General Election calendar and the IPL schedule are closely related, as Cricbuzz previously revealed. Covertly, the Indian Cricket Board is thinking of having the event over the period of March 22–May 26. The election dates must be published before the schedule can be confirmed. However the Indian Cricket Board is optimistic that the entire league would be played in India.
