MS Dhoni, who was recently handed back Chennai’s captaincy from Ravindra Jadeja, has hinted that he will play for the team next year as well. In the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022, Dhoni has taken over as the yellow army’s leader at a time when the odds are stacked against them. they need to win all their remaining games to qualify for playoffs. Jadeja led the team in eight games, and could only win two out of them.

Just a day prior to Chennai’s ongoing game against Hyderabad, Jadeja handed the leadership responsibilities back to the former India skipper. Due to this, the fans are hopeful of the fortunes turning around for the Chennai-based franchise. Talking about his performances, the right-hander scored a fifty in the opening game of the tournament against Kolkata.

Apart from this, he recently starred in a last-ball win against Mumbai. Meanwhile, during the toss between Hyderabad and Chennai, the Ranchi-born player said that the fans will definitely see him in the Yellow kit. However, he also hinted that he could either be part of the team as a player or as a coach in the team.

“You’ll definitely see me in yellow jersey next year,” Dhoni said at the toss at the MCA Stadium in Pune. “Whether it is this one, or some other one, you never know,” he was quick to add, keeping possibilities of taking up a coaching role open.

Talking about the ongoing game, Chennai openers Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway wreaked havoc on Hyderabad’s bowlers. They stitched a partnership of 182 runs. Gaikwad scored 99 off 57 balls, which included six fours and as many sixes before he was caught at point by Bhuvneshwar Kumar off T. Natarajan. He missed out on a well-deserved hundred, which would have been the second of his Indian T20 League career. The right-hander’s first hundred came in the 2021 season against Rajasthan. On the other hand, Conway scored a 55-ball 85. Thus, the four-time champions scored 202-2 in their stipulated 20 overs.
