In a crushing blow to Chennai, Deepak Chahar has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian T20 League. Chahar hasn’t played the game after picking up a right quadriceps injury in February this year. He was recovering at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The medium-pacer was seen practising batting and bowling in a video last month. However, he picked back injury recently which put his comeback in jeopardy.

Now, with almost one-third of the 15th season already played, the Agra-born player has been ruled out of the rest of the season. His team has missed his services dearly in the five games played so far. The team had to persist with inexperienced pacers such as Tushar Deshpande and Mukesh Choudhary. Notably, Deshpande was dropped from the playing XI after the game against Lucknow. On the other hand, Choudhary is still playing.

Talking about the team’s performance, the team lost to Kolkata, Lucknow, Punjab, and Hyderabad respectively to start their campaign. They registered their first win in the game against Bangalore. In that game, spinners such as Maheesh Thikshana and skipper Ravindra Jadeja picked seven wickets combined. However, the pacers struggled as the likes of Choudhary, Dwayne Bravo, and Chris Jordan conceded runs with an economy rate of more than 10.

The team is already reeling from the injury to Adam Milne, who got injured ahead of the game against Lucknow. Since then, he hasn’t played a single game. It will be interesting to see who will replace Chahar in the team. On the other hand, Kolkata pacer Rasikh Salam has been ruled out as well. He will be replaced by Harshit Rana in the Kolkata team. Notably, the former only played two games this season.

In another update coming from the official website of the league, Delhi physio Patrick Farhart has tested positive for COVID-19. He is currently being monitored by the medical team of the franchise.
