Mohammad Rizwan speaks about Virat Kohli’s lean patch
Virat Kohli has been below-par in the Indian T20 League 2022 so far
Virat Kohli’s lean patch with the bat has been the talk of the town. A lot of pundits and experts have pointed out his poor returns in the recent past. Besides, several cricketers and former cricketers have also gone on to speak about the same. Now, a star player has joined the bandwagon and it is none other than Mohammad Rizwan. It is to be noted that Pakistan’s blue-eyed boy is their gloveman in all formats of the game, and has been in superb form of late.
He has said that Kohli is a champion player but at this stage, he needs prayers because he is a hard-working player. The keeper-batter added that every player has scored hundreds and got out on ducks at the international level. The 29-year-old further added that he can pray for Kohli and hopes that the latter overcomes his poor form.
“I will say that he is a champion player but at this stage, we can pray for him because he is a hard-working cricketer,†Rizwan told Cricwick.
“And tough times do come and things do get easier too. Every player has scored centuries and got out on pairs and this goes on. I can pray for him and I am hopeful that through hard work, he will control all the things,†he added.
Talking about the 33-year-old’s current form, he has only managed to get 216 runs in the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. This includes just one fifty, and three golden ducks. Last month, reports emerged that the national selectors of the BCCI were concerned about his form with a five-match series against South Africa to be played next month. A lot of former players have suggested the right-hander take a break from the game.
Moreover, his time in international cricket hasn’t been the way he would have liked either. Since November 2019, he hasn’t been able to hit a single hundred in either of the three formats of the game. He has played 105 games without scoring a hundred, a record which he would like to forget as soon as possible.
