‘Modi ji WTC ki setting kra do please’ – Fans react to viral image of Indian PM Narendra Modi shaking hands with Pat Cummins and Steve Waugh

India and Australia will take on each other for their maiden Test Championship title on June 7.

Former and current Australia skippers, Steve Waugh and Pat Cummins respectively met the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Not to forget when the Australian PM visited India during the BGT series early this year, both PMs met the players. The incident happened ahead of the Ahmedabad Test. Meanwhile, both teams have qualified for the final of the Test Championship final next month.

The Rohit Sharma-led side will play their second final, having lost the 2021 final against New Zealand. On the other hand, the Kangaroos are playing their maiden final after missing out last time. Meanwhile, with only a few weeks left in the summit clash, India PM Narendra Modi was seen shaking hands with Cummins and stood alongside 1999 World Cup-winning skipper Waugh.

The fans lost calm after the image went viral.

Some Indian players have left early for the Test Championship final in England

Meanwhile, the first batch of players have left for the United Kingdom ahead of the summit clash. Some of the players such as Mohammed Siraj, Shardul Thakur, and supporting staff left for England from Mumbai. Head coach Rahul Dravid also left. On the other hand, some other players will join later

India’s squad for WTC final: Rohit Sharma (Captain), Shubman Gill, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, KS Bharat (wk), Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Mohd. Shami, Mohd. Siraj, Umesh Yadav, Jaydev Unadkat, Ishan Kishan (wk).

Standby players: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Mukesh Kumar, Suryakumar Yadav.

On the other hand, Jaydev Unadkat, who is part of the team got injured during the ongoing IPL 2023. He is currently in rehabilitation.

To Cricbuzz, an Indian Cricket Board’s source quoted: “There may be departures everyday till May 30. Logistics arrangements are being made for almost every day.” Meanwhile, despite having an injury setback in IPL 2023, Jaydev Unadkat travelled to England with the first batch. A senior Indian Cricket Board official, while speaking to InsideSport, said: “Yes, Jaydev is traveling with the team. He is nearing the completion of his rehab. But he is yet to be a match fit. He has begun low-intensity bowling. But we are hopeful that he will be okay by the next week or so.”
