Men’s Cricket World Cup Teams
The 2023 ODI World Cup hosted by India will be the 13th edition of the premier 50-over tournament. Notably, the quadrennial event is returning to Indian soil after 12 years, and this time India will host the entire tournament across 10 cities. Defending champions England will take on runners-up New Zealand in the tournament’s curtain-raiser at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 5.
The format of the tournament is similar to the 2019 edition with all 10 teams will play each other once in the round-robin stage, and the top four will advance to the knockouts, followed by the final on November 19. Eight of the 10 teams – India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Australia, England, New Zealand, and South Africa – had already qualified for the tournament. Sri Lanka and the Netherlands are the other two teams determined through the ODI World Cup Qualifiers.
Australia are the most successful team in the ODI World Cup with five titles. India and West Indies have won the title twice. However, the Caribbean team will not be present this time as they failed to qualify for the tournament. Sri Lanka, England and Pakistan have won the coveted crown once.
Apart from Sri Lanka and Pakistan, all the other eight teams have revealed their 15-player squads for the prestigious event. According to the Cricket Governing Body, all teams must finalise their squads prior to September 28.
