Mega movie star announced as main actor for Sourav Ganguly’s biopic
The ambitious biopic on the renowned Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly, written by Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, is coming along nicely. One of the most fascinating Hindi films now in development is the sports biography directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, which stars Ayushmann Khurrana. One of the sources familiar with the making of the film said, “Producers Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, who are producing this film under their Luv Films banner, have hit a six by bringing together Ayushmann Khurrana and Vikramaditya Motwane. Both have established themselves as formidable forces with an incredible body of work throughout the years.”
They added, “Ayushmann, also a left-handed batsman like Ganguly, is a perfect fit for his biopic, while Motwane has already proven his mastery with films such as Udaan, Lootera, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, and Jubilee. Stakeholders are fired up and gung-ho about the kind of cinematic masterpiece they are set to create together. The film will officially be announced soon.
Since last year, Ayushmann has been discussed for this movie, and the producer feels he was the best option. After all the paperwork are finished and he will shortly start getting ready for the part. Before beginning the shoot, Ayushmann is expected to go through months of rigorous cricket instruction. Although the exact date of filming is yet unknown, we know it will take place later this year.

In case you missed it, Vikramaditya Motwane was first considered as the director of the Sourav Ganguly biography. But, to everyone’s surprise, he declined the offer to concentrate on his subsequent undertakings. Then, Aishwarya Rajinikanth, a Tamil filmmaker, was considered by the creators; however, it too eventually fell through.
Though the reason behind Motwane’s return to the project is yet unknown. He has started work on it and might be eager to tell Ganguly’s story in the most creative way.
