Kylian Mbappe had a disappointing performance in Newcastle United’s 4-1 victory against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). This is surely one of the finest evenings in the English club’s history.

When the first goal went in during the 17th minute, Miguel Almiron enraged the crowd at St James’ Park. Bruno Guimaraes headed a foolish error from Marquinhos to Alexander Isak. Gianluigi Donnarumma of Paris did a great job stopping the furious shot from the Swedish striker. However Almiron got there to curl in a magnificent attempt and put his side in the lead.

Dan Burn, the Magpies’ improvised left-back, increased the advantage for the home team during the 39th minute. A superb cross from Guimaraes found the English defender, who headed it past Donnarumma. After a VAR review, the goal was confirmed, and the stadium imploded.

Guimaraes avoided getting a red card in the 45+7th minute, which was a small stroke of luck. The Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte was sent to the ground. It seemed to be a blow from the Brazilian in the back of the head. The former Lyon player received only a yellow card, per the decision of Romanian referee Istvan Kovacs.

Newcastle ramp through PSG in the second half

Sean Longstaff launched an aggressive right-footed strike in the second half. Newcastle gained an astounding 3-0 lead as Donnarumma dived to try to block the shot. However, the Italian wasn’t powerful enough to do so.

In the 56th minute, Warren Zaire-Emery’s excellent cross was met by Lucas Hernandez. This goal gave the Parisians some glimmer of hope. In the 85th minute, Mbappe missed two further opportunities and was furious as his team was headed for a humiliating loss.

In the 90+1th minute, Fabian Schar produced a goal that stunned everyone. The play was initiated by the Swiss defender, who expertly completed it inside the box, leaving Donnarumma with little chance. It was a memorable evening for Newcastle supporters, but it also put a lot of pressure on Enrique.
