West Indies and Rajasthan batter, Shimron Hetmyer has traveled back home to Guyana for the birth of his child. His wife is expecting their first child. Notably, Hetmyer has left some of his luggage in the hotel room where he was staying during the ongoing Indian T20 League 2022. In a video uploaded by the franchise on Twitter, players were seen congratulating the former West Indies U19 skipper.

“My stuff is still left in the room,” the 25-year-old said indicating that he will return to play the rest of the games for the team. The team will play their remaining three games on May 11, 15, and 20. On these days, the 2008 winners will play Delhi, Lucknow, and Chennai. It will be interesting to see which of these games he will be able to play. According to the bio-bubble protocols, players who leave the bio-bubble for a certain period have to go through a three-day quarantine.

They will only be able to join the team if they return with a COVID19 negative result. It is likely that he might be available for selection in the game against Lucknow. The Guyana player has been an incredible contributor to the team’s cause in the tournament. He has scored 291 runs averaging 72 batting in the lower middle order. His strike rate during the over number 17 to 20 has been 214.28, which makes him one of the top-five dangerous batters.

The 2016 U19 World Cup winning skipper recently played a cameo of unbeaten 31 of 16 balls to win a high-scoring game against Punjab. In that game, the Men In Pink and Blue were chasing the target of 190 runs. The team went across the line with two balls to spare and six wickets in hand. With that win, the team has earned 14 points and need two more to reach the playoffs. Currently, Indian T20 League debutants, Lucknow and Gujarat are on 16 points each and have almost assured their place in the playoffs
