‘Man who has redefined India’ – Sporting fraternity wishes PM Narendra Modi on his 73rd Birthday
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is celebrating his 73rd birthday today. The entire sporting fraternity from India wished the honourable Prime Minister on his special day. Athletes from various sports extended their good wishes to the PM. PM Modi has been a keen follower of sports which is evident throughout his entire tenure. He is often seen congratulating various athletes on their achievements as they bring glory to the nation with achievements at the international level.
PM Modi got on a telephonic call with the men’s hockey team as they scripted history at the grand stage of the Tokyo Olympics 2021. The Indian Hockey Team managed to secure a bronze medal and ended the 41-year-long drought of medals in the sport. A clip of PM talking to the players as he congratulated them on their achievement went viral on social media.
The Prime Minister also talked to the Women’s hockey team after their loss in the bronze medal match at the Olympics. He told the team to not get disheartened by the loss and that their journey has made the entire nation proud.
Modi organized a special meet for all the Olympic athletes after they returned back to India. He fulfilled the wish of badminton star P.V Sindhu, who had not eaten ice cream in a long while. Prime Minister congratulated her on her bronze medal victory and had a cup of ice cream.
PM Modi has been a staunch supporter of sports and fitness as is evident from his various initiatives for the nation. He’s seen encouraging youngsters to pick up sports every year on the National Sports Day which is celebrated on the birthday of legendary Hockey Player Dhyan Chand. He further launched the fit India movement in 2019 with a view to make fitness an integral part of our daily lives.
The Government of India, under the leadership of Narendra Modi, came up with Khelo India Programme. It aims at improving India’s sports culture at the grass-root level through organized talent identification, structured sporting competitions and infrastructure development.
