Let’s look at the match report of this rain-affected game of the Malaysia Quadrangular T20I series:

Match 7: Maldives vs Malaysia

Malaysia won the toss after it was delayed due to rain and chose to field first. The match was reduced to 10 overs. Coming on to bat first, the Maldives team lost their first wicket at just seven runs when the captain Yoosuf Azyan Farhath gave a catch to A Faiz off of a Syazrul Ezat ball. Wickets continued to fall like leaves every couple of runs as none of the batters were able to reach the double digits score. It was Hassan Rasheed who came up with a significant knock of 20 off of 12 with a boundary and a six. It was however only able to push the team to 57/8 in 10 overs.

Virandeep Singh, the last match’s Player of the match was able to take three wickets in just two overs for the host team.

Malaysia’s in-form openers Zubaidi Zulkifle and Virandeep Singh looked as if they would take the host team across the finish line without losing a wicket- respectively they made 26 and 26 runs in 10 balls each. Virandeep Singh however was dismissed by Maldives captain Azyan Farhath. Malaysia captain Ahmad Faiz also departed off of a duck in the same over.
