The Malaysia Quadrangular T20I Series has seen five games played in a span of just three days. Some of these were incredibly close encounters.

The third day of the series saw two games from each category. Let’s look at the match report for the same.

Match 4: Thailand vs Malaysia

The host team Malaysia has steamrolled all of their opponents in the series so far. Having won the T20I series against a higher-ranked Singapore team has instilled massive confidence in the Malaysian team and they’re using it to their full advantage.

Their third match of the Malaysia Quadrangular T20I Series was of a similar nature in which they defeated the Thailand side by nine wickets.

After winning the toss, Thailand decided to bat first, but were cleaned up at just 30/10 by the Malaysian side. Thailand openers Sorawat Desungneon (2) and Narawit Nuntarch (7) were cleaned up at a team score of three. The next batter Jeerasak Pakhiaokajee was sent back without adding any to the team’s total. With wickets falling every couple of runs, Thailand found themselves in a very bad situation. Three players from the Thailand team got out for a duck, three others for a score of one and two more for a score of two runs.

None of the Thailand players could even reach a double-digit score. Syazrul Ezat with a bowling figure of 4-17-4 was Malaysia’s best bowler. He was also supported by Virandeep Singh who took three wickets in four overs. Khizar Hayat was also instrumental in Thailand’s collapse having taken two wickets in 2.1 overs.

Chasing the target of 30 runs the Malaysian opener and in-form batter Zubaidi Zulkifle was dismissed at the first ball itself. Their next two batters however took the game home in just 3.5 overs, winning their third match of the series. Virandeep Singh with 18 off 13 and Syed Aziz with 15 off of 9 finished the game with 79 balls to spare.

Syazrul Ezat was adjudged the man of the match for taking four wickets.
