LPL 2023: Five players who could finish as top scorers of the season
Lanka Premier League 2023 will start on July 30 and end on August 20.
Season four of the Lanka Premier League (LPL 2023) is around the corner. With a little more than left in the season to start, some players have been signed by five different teams. At this point, these teams have only started to build their side for the upcoming season. The rest of the squads will be finalized at a later date.
Meanwhile, for the first time in the league’s history, the tournament in the months of July and August. The last three seasons were played in the months of November and December. Notably, last year, it was scheduled to be played in the month of July and August. However, thanks to the civil unrest, the tournament was shifted to December. Five batters who can score the most runs in LPL 2023
1. Babar Azam
The Pakistan skipper will make his debut in the Lanka Premier League for 2020 finalists, Colombo Stars. Talking about his T20 record, he has played 260 games and has 9201 runs including nine centuries and 76 fifties. The right-hander’s strike rate (128.68) has always been a matter of discussion but he remains consistent either for Pakistan or in the leagues.
2. Fakhar Zaman
The 2017 Champions Trophy is also making his debut in the league just his captain of the national side. Meanwhile, unlike Azam, Zaman’s strike rate in white-ball cricket has never been an issue. After playing 214 games, the two-time PSL winner has 5500 runs at a strike rate of 135.43.
3. Dasun Shanaka
The Sri Lanka skipper will turn up for two-time finalists, Galle Gladiators. This year, he has been in great form with the bat for the national side. This is the reason the all-rounder made his debut for the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2023. Talking about his record, the right-hander has played 186 games and has 3750 runs striking at 141.50. Shanaka also has 59 wickets to his name.
4. David Miller
The South Africa player is making his debut in the league as well. He will turn up for the defending champions, Jaffna Kings. The left-hander has played 446 games and has 9627 runs including four hundreds. Notably, in the 2022 and 2023 seasons of the IPL, he found his way into the subcontinental conditions.
5. Kusal Mendis
The Blow Hot Blow Cold kind of player will play for Dambulla Aura this year. Previously, he played for the Gladiators and Kandy Tuskers (now Falcons). Talking about his T20 record, the right-hander has 117 games under his belt and 3219 runs to his name. The former Sri Lanka U19 player has looked like coming off age in the shortest format of the game.
