In the 34th match between Delhi and Rajasthan, the two teams provided maximum entertainment to the fans with 429 runs being scored. But controversy took the center stage as the Delhi skipper lost his cool over a controversial decision by the umpire.

Delhi won the toss in the match and decided to field first. On the back of a brilliant hundred by Jos Buttler, Rajasthan scored 222 runs in their 20 overs. Delhi lost the plot in their chase as they kept losing wickets throughout their chase. They ended up needing 36 runs in the last over. Rovman Powell was batting and Obed McCoy was the bowler. Powell slammed two sixes off the first two balls and the bowler was under pressure. McCoy bowled a full toss which was also put out of the boundary ropes by Powell, but the ball appeared to be above the waist height. Everybody watching the match felt that it was a no-ball but the umpire decided that it was a legitimate delivery.

This triggered a furious response from the Delhi skipper Rishabh Pant as he was on the verge of calling off his batters. He also sent assistant coach Pravin Amre onto the field. The match however resumed soon and McCoy managed to hold his nerve taking his team to 15 runs victory.

But the response from Pant reminded the fans of a similar incident in the Indian T20 League 2019. The man in action, in that case, was the then Chennai skipper MS Dhoni. Notably, that also involved a controversial no-ball call in the last over of a match against Rajasthan. In that instance, Ben Stokes bowled a full toss above the waist height which was given a no-ball. This made even ‘Captain Cool’, MS Dhoni lose his cool and he walked on the field to argue with umpires. The decision was not overturned but Chennai won the match by four wickets.

The recent reaction from Pant reminded fans of the MSD incident and they related the attitude of the two over a wrong umpiring calls.
