Virat Kohli, the batting icon, has reportedly withdrawn from the series. Thus India may be without him for the remaining three Test matches versus England. Due to personal issues, Kohli was unable to attend the initial two Tests of the series. It now appears like India will have to play without him for the remaining games.

In an online meeting on Friday, Kohli reportedly told the team selectors about this decision. He wanted the selectors to remove his name from the remaining matches according to an Indian Express article. Prior to the Hyderabad Test, Kohli withdrew his name for personal reasons despite having been selected.

The Indian Cricket Board’s only statement on Kohli was a media advisory sent on January 22. They informed the public of the batter’s withdrawal from the first two Test matches. The selectors are still expecting KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja’s fitness clearance. The duo had to miss out on the Vizag Test owing to injury, therefore they haven’t revealed the roster for the final three Tests.

One of the senior officials of the Indian Cricket Board spoke to News18 CricketNext. He informed about the delay in announcing the squad for the final three Tests against England. He said, “We are waiting for clearances and updates on Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul and that is what led to the delay in selectors announcing the squad. We are talking about two big players so it’s important to get a clear picture on both of them before going ahead with the team selection for the series.”

Shreyas Iyer, the middle-order batsman, is also anticipated to miss the rest of the series because, according to CricketNext, his poor batting form, rather than a health issue that has landed him into the firing position.
