The Lanka Premier League 2022 has seen some of the teams dominate throughout its course, and day eight was no different. Two matches were played on day eight at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. Kandy Falcons and Jaffna Kings faced off in the first match, and Dambulla Aura took on Colombo Stars in the next. Here is the complete roundup of day eight of the Lanka Premier League 2022.

Match 13- Kandy Falcons vs Jaffna Kings

The Kandy Falcons decided to bat first after winning the toss. They had a decent start in the powerplay as they scored 42 runs and lost one wicket in the first six overs. However, they struggled in the middle overs as they lost a few wickets. In the end, Fabian Allen scored 47 runs in 23 balls to help his team reach a respectable position. The Falcons completed their 20 overs with a score of 160-8. For the Jaffna Kings, Dunith Wellalage, Dilshan Madushanka, Waqar Salamkheil, and James Fuller took two wickets each.

The Kings did not get off to the best start in the chase as they lost two wickets in the first two overs. However, Avishka Fernando and Sadeera Samarawickrama got them back in the game with their cameos of 33 runs in 48 runs, respectively. However, the Kings crumbled down after that as Carlos Brathwaite completed his four-wicket haul. They ultimately missed the target by just 10 runs, but they were very close. They could only get a score of 150-9.

Match 14- Dambulla Aura vs Colombo Stars

The second game of the day was a low-scoring contest in contrast to the first. Batting first, Dambulla Aura had the worst possible start as they lost seven wickets within the powerplay after scoring 54 runs. Kasun Rajitha, who picked five wickets in the game, was the wrecker-in-chief for the Colombo Stars. The batting team got a few more runs but kept losing wickets. They ended with a score of 89-10 in 13.5 overs.

The chase turned out to be very easy for the Colombo Stars. Pramod Madushan dismissed Niroshan Dickwella on the very first ball, but they had no troubles after that. While Dinesh Chandimal anchored the chase and scored 31 runs in 32 balls, Charith Asalanka took the lead and scored 58 runs in 36 balls. They completed the target’s chase with more than 8 overs and 9 wickets remaining.
