Day seven of the Lanka Premier League 2022 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium was completely action-packed. Kandy Falcons and Dambulla Aura faced off in the first match, while Galle Gladiators took on Colombo Stars in the next match. While the Falcons won the match convincingly, The Stars had a close call as they claimed the two points. Here is the roundup of day seven of the Lanka Premier League 2022.

Match 11- Dambulla Aura vs Kandy Falcons

With Pathum Nissanka and Andre Fletcher scoring good runs in the powerplay, Kand Falcons, who were batting first, got off to a great start. During the power play, they two scored 48 more runs, but Nissanka (26) was dismissed just before the sixth over was over. Fletcher (44), Kamindu Mendis (58) and Ashen Bandara (42) helped the team set a huge target of 194 runs.

On the other hand, Dambulla Aura had a poor start as they lost five wickets within the powerplay after scoring only 44 runs. They had no further success after that as they continued to frequently lose wickets. For the Falcons, Carlos Brathwaite (3 wickets), Chamindu Wijesinghe (3 wickets), Chamika Karunaratne (2 wickets), and Fabian Allen (2 wickets) were the wreckers in chief as they dismissed the batting team to a score of 116 to take a massive 77-run win.

Match 12- Galle Gladiators vs Colombo Stars

After winning the toss, the Stars decided to have a bowl first. The Gladiators had a great start with the bat as openers Thanuka Dabare and Kusal Mendis scored some quick runs. Dabare was out after scoring 33 runs in 22 balls, but Mendis continued to score 72 runs in just 49 deliveries before being dismissed. Asad Shafiq also scored an important knock of 58 runs in 38 balls to guide his team to a total of 193/5 in their allotted 20 overs.

The Colombo Stars’ pursuit did not get off to the best start as they lost their first wicket in the second first over. However, Dinesh Chandimal and Charith Asalanka got the team back in the game with a 92-run partnership. They scored 63 runs and 43 runs, respectively. In the end, a cameo of 31 runs in 12 balls from Ravi Bopara was enough to guide the team through. He hit the winning boundary on the last ball to win the match by two wickets.
