The second day of the Lanka Premier League 2022 saw two matches go underway at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota. Dambulla Aura took on Jaffna Kings in the opening match, while Galle Gladiators and Kandy Falcons faced off in the next game. Both games had some great action, and here is a roundup of day two of the Lanka Premier League 2022.

Match 3- Dambulla Aura vs Jaffna Kings

Batting first Dambulla Giants had a decent start as they were quick in their approach. They scored 49 runs in the powerplay and did not lose any wickets. However, after that, it all went downhill for them. They kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could not form meaningful partnerships. The Jaffna Kings bowlers broke through their lineup and restricted them to a score of 121-9. Maheesh Theekshana and Vijayakanth Viyaskanth were the picks of the bowlers, taking three wickets each. James Fuller and Zaman Khan took two and one wickets, respectively.

The chase was very easy for the Kings as Sadeera Samarawickrama and Avishka Fernando got going immediately. The two scored a half-century each and added a partnership of 118 runs. Then, Ashan Randika came in and hit a four on the first ball to seal the game in the 16th over itself.

Match 4- Galle Gladiators vs Kandy Falcons

The next game was another low-scoring thriller between Galle Gladiators and Kandy Flowers. Batting first, the Gladiators kept losing wickets, putting them under a lot of pressure. As a result, they could not get any partnerships under their belt. With Movin Subasingha (40 runs in 38 balls) being their highest run-scorer, Gladiators registered a score of 121-8. Carlos Brathwaite was at his absolute best as he took four wickets in the game.

In the chase, Kandy Flowers saw a few cameos in the game that helped them register their second win of the season. Pathum Nissanka and Andre Fletcher got 22 and 20 runs as openers, respectively. Kamindu Mendis then scored a decent knock of 44 runs in 34 balls. In the end, Falcons chased down the total with five wickets and five overs to spare.
