‘Lahori aukat main aate huey’ – Fans react as Quetta Gladiators beat Lahore Qalandars by 5 wickets to register 2nd successive win in PSL 2024

Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators locked horns in the 4th match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024 at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Monday, February 19. Qalandars’ skipper Shaheen Shah Afridi won the toss and decided to bat first at the batting-friendly turf of the Gaddafi Stadium.

Batting first, Lahore Qalandars posted a decent total of 187 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Star opener Sahibzada Farhan played a crucial half-century knock of 62 runs off 43 balls, with 6 fours and 3 sixes. Besides him, the major highlight of Lahore’s innings was the blistering and fiery knock of 45 runs off just 17 balls, with 3 fours and 4 sixes by Jahandad Khan.

These knocks played a vital role in helping the defending champions to post a total of 187 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Akeal Hosein and Mohammad Hasnain scalped 2 wickets each for Quetta Gladiators. Besides these two, Mohammad Amir, Mohammad Wasim, and Abrar Ahmed also claimed one wicket each.

Khawaja Nafay outmuscles the Lahore Qalandars’ bowling attack

While chasing the target, the opening pair of Jason Roy and Saud Shakeel stitched an amazing partnership of 69 runs for the first wicket in 6.5 overs for Quetta Gladiators. Saud Shakeel scored 40 runs off 23 balls, with 7 fours and a six. Other than him, the 22-year-old Khawaja Nafay also played a blistering knock of 60 runs off just 31 balls, with 4 fours and 3 sixes.

These knocks helped Gladiators to chase down the total comfortably in 19.1 overs, scoring 188 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Eventually, Rilee Rossouw’s men won the match by 5 wickets to register their second successive win in the ongoing Pakistan Super League 2024.

Khawaja Nafay won the ‘Player of the Match award for his match-defining knock of 60 runs in Quetta’s favour to beat the defending champions.
