The series’ crucial match is being played at the massive Narendra Modi Stadium. Meanwhile, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese were both in attendance at the match.

Before the toss, the Prime Ministers of both countries presented the Test caps to Indian captain Rohit Sharma and Australian captain Steve Smith. The two also stood with the teams for the national anthems ahead of the start of the play.

Earlier, PM Modi and PM Albanese viewed photographs of memorable moments between India and former Indian coach Australia, as former Indian head coach Ravi Shastri explained the photographs of some significant events played between the two teams.

Twitter was elated at seeing the two leaders pose with the two captains. “This friendship between country and sport is memorable,” wrote a fan. “Insane amount of experience & success in one pic,” another fan wrote.

As for the match, India currently leads the four-match series 2-1. While they have retained the Border Gavaskar Trophy for the third time in a row, they will be eager to win the match. A win here would guarantee them a spot in the Test Championship final. The Baggy Greens have already qualified for the final with a win in the Indore Test.

The team led by Rohit Sharma won the first two matches in Nagpur and Delhi. The Kangaroos, however, bounced back with a convincing win in the third match in Indore. Australia currently is without their regular captain Pat Cummins.
