‘Kyun Ma#@& Re Ho!’ – Shoaib Akhtar expresses his disappointment on India’s performance against South Africa in 20-20 World Cup

India and South Africa are locking horns in their third match of the 20-20 World Cup at Perth. The Indian captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bat first on the fast bouncy pitch at the Perth Stadium. The decision to bat first by the captain backfired as India got off to a miserable start losing five wickets for 49 runs in the ninth over itself.

The match holds immense importance for Pakistan who desperately needs India to win this game to stay alive in the 20-20 World Cup. Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar was distraught with India’s performance in the ‘all-important’ clash and took to Twitter to express his disappointment.

The 47-year-old uploaded a video where he’s heard saying, “I earlier said that India needs to win for Pakistan. They don’t have to let them down. But they’re letting them down with their dismal performance. They have lost four wickets. Don’t know what will happen next.”

Pakistan find themselves in a precarious situation following their back-to-back losses against arch-rivals India and Zimbabwe. Now, they need to win all of their remaining matches against Bangladesh and South Africa. They also need India to win all of their remaining matches. If India somehow loses against South Africa later today, then a washout in any of South Africa’s remaining games will keep Pakistan in contention for the semi-final spot.

The ‘Men-in-Green’ registered their first win of the tournament in their third match against the Netherlands on Sunday. After opting to bat first, the Netherlands were blown away by the Pakistan pace attack as they could only manage to score 91/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Pakistan comfortably chased down their target in 13.5 overs losing four wickets.

Meanwhile, India could only score 133/9 in the first innings courtesy of a brilliant knock by Suryakumar Yadav of 68 from 40 balls. No other batter apart from him could reach the 20-run-mark as Lungi Ngidi picked up 4 wickets for 29 runs in his four overs. Wayne Parnell also picked up 3 wickets for just 15 runs in his four overs.
