‘Kyu PR game chala rahe the uske khilaf?’ – Fans rip apart Sourav Ganguly as he calls Virat Kohli ‘very good captain’
Virat Kohli and Sourav Ganguly were believed to have a standoff during the latter’s stint as Indian Cricket Board President.
Former India skipper Virat Kohli leaving the India captaincy was a matter of discussion. A day before him announcing his resignation from T20I captaincy, a leading media house reported the same. Even though the Indian Cricket Board denied the reports, Kohli went on to make the official announcement a few hours later. Notably, a few months, he was sacked from the ODI captaincy and the Delhi player claimed there was no proper communication done to him.
This created a furor among the fans. On the other hand, the board reportedly issued a show-cause notice to the 2008 U19 World Cup-winning skipper. The fans went on to rip apart the board. After India lost the Test series against South Africa early last year, Kohli decided to step down from Test captaincy, replaced by Rohit Sharma across formats. Meanwhile, former India skipper, Sourav Ganguly claims that he was surprised to see Kohli stepping down.
“No (on the board’s preparedness on Kohli giving up Test captaincy). Not after the South Africa series. I don’t know (why he did so), only he can tell. After Virat left, Rohit Sharma was the best option available at that time,” Ganguly said on Aaj Tak.
Virat Kohli was a good captain and India did well under him: Sourav Ganguly
The left-hander added that Virat was a good captain and India did well under the likes of former head coach, Ravi Shastri. Ganguly further added that the Men In Blue displayed a fearless attitude in England and Australia.
“Kohli was a very good captain, India did really well under Kohli & Shastri, India played with a fearless attitude and showed guts in England & Australia. If they had played the Manchester Test at that time, they would’ve won the series in England as well,” he stated.
During Virat Kohli’s captaincy, India won their maiden Test series in Australia in 2018-19. In 2020-21, he had to leave for the birth of his daughter. In his absence, Ajinkya Rahane led the team to victory.

I can't believe it took him so long to say it, but finally, he did it.

Make Ravi Ashwin the captain now and end this kohli-Rohit captaincy war with head coach – chandrakant pandit so that he spanks all those who skip practice sessions just for the sake of brand promotion campaigns and faltu ka 3-3 mahino ka rest.

Oh Ganguly seems so cognizant about the captaincy style of Virat Kohli but where was this concern when Ganguly stripped him of the ODI captaincy which followed him resigning off the Test Captaincy .
Certainly a try to refurbish his image ?

Just because of Ganguly's ego (personal likes : Rohit/Dravid & dislikes : Kohli/Shastri), India lost an aggressive body language captain with so many overseas test wins. pic.twitter.com/MikeTO8leT
