India vs England 2024
‘Kya ye garv ki baat hai?’ – Fans react to Rohit Sharma’s numbers in World Test Championship for India
Rohit Sharma has been the highest run scorer for India in Test cricket since the inception of the World Test Championship. It was during the same period that the star batter was promoted as an opener in the longest format of the game. In the series against SA in 2019, Rohit opened for the 1st time in Tests.
Since then, Sharma has been a reliable batter for India. In home conditions, the Indian skipper has been exceptional as a batter. Even outside India, particularly during the swinging conditions of England, he has some good numbers. The tour of England had seen his best form as a batter in away matches.
At Lord’s and the Oval, Sharma batted very well and helped India’s cause. In-home conditions, Sharma has played some exceptional knocks. At Vizag in 2019, Rohit started his career as a Test opener on a fine note by scoring twin hundreds. He followed it up with a double hundred at Ranchi in the last match of the series.
Rohit Sharma’s numbers for India in the World Test Championship
In the series against England, Rohit scored a fabulous hundred at Chennai in the 2nd Test after losing the first Test. It came on a rank-turner. In the Border Gavaskar Trophy 2023, Rohit scored a fabulous hundred at Nagpur to set the tone for the series with his knock.
In the series against the West Indies in the West Indies, the star batter scored a hundred and a fifty and impressed everyone with his batting. In the ongoing series against England, Rohit has not been at his best. It has been a disappointing run with the bat for the 37-year-old so far in the series.
Yet, he has been the highest run scorer for India in the WTC. Rohit has scored 2242 runs for India at a batting average of 49.82. These are good numbers after batting mostly on difficult tracks. India would be hoping to see the best of Rohit in the upcoming days. The Indian opener must be at his best for India to win the series

Rohit Sharma has been absolutely killing it in the World Test Championship! His record of 2242 runs at an average of nearly 50 is seriously impressive. And to think that he’s now the leading run-getter for India in the history of the tournament – that’s a huge accomplishment!
