India and Bangladesh faced off in the second ODI on December 7, Wednesday and it was the latter who dominated the game yet again post winning the first ODI by just 1 wicket. To add more, after electing to bat first and losing 6 wickets within 70 runs, Mehidy Hasan and Mohammad Mahmadullah put on a great partnership to lift the team up.

Eventually, at the end of the first innings, the Bangla Tigers managed to put on 271 runs on the board on the back of a stupendous 143-run stand between Hasan and Mahmadullah. Notably, Hasan reached the 100-run landmark and carried on with his form from the previous match.

India fight back in second innings

Concerning India’s chase, the Men in Blue started off poorly and lost Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli in quick succession. To add more, while Kohli perished for 5 runs, Dhawan, on the other hand, contributed only 8 runs to the scoreboard. India stepped onto the field in the absence of their skipper Rohit Sharma who walked off the field on the back of an injury scare in the first innings. It was Shreyas Iyer and Axar Patel who joined hands to lift the team up and make up for the early hiccup.

It was a decent stand as the duo put on 107 runs for the 5th wicket and it was Iyer who perished after scoring 82 runs to his name, keeping India alive in the race. Patel, on the other hand, made his way back to the dressing room post gathering 56 runs to his name.

India, however, were alive in the race, as the likes of Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar kept the team in the race. Given that the duo are known for their batting abilities, the Indian fans kept their hopes alive, even after losing 6 wickets at the end of 40 overs. Post losing Thakur, the Indian skipper made a surprise entry onto the field and attempted to take India home. Eventually, it was Bangladesh who won the match by 5 runs and clinched the series.
