Kuldeep Yadav emerged as the top bowler for the visiting team, picking up 5 wickets in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh, marking a strong return to India’s Test team. At the conclusion of Day 3 on Friday, Kuldeep spoke to the media after India set the hosts a target of 513 runs to reach.
Kuldeep spoke with the media and addressed a range of inquiries, from his own performance to the specifics of the pitch. Kuldeep was a little taken aback by one particular question, but he was still able to respond as honestly as he could.
A journalist questioned whether Bangladesh could win the first Test of the series while chasing a massive 513-run target. “I personally don’t want that!” Kuldeep laughed and said. “It’s cricket. If someone gets a 300, then probably! We will try to bowl them out as early as possible. That’s our main goal for tomorrow,” he added.
I believe the pitch is perfect to bat on: Kuldeep Yadav
Bangladesh’s response to India’s 404-run first innings total was being bowled out for only 150 runs. However, Kuldeep believes the pitch was ideal for batting because he personally scored 40 off 114.
“I believe the pitch is perfect to bat on. It was really good to bat on even against spinners. Yes, some balls are keeping low and the odd ball turning. Me and Ash bhai (R Ashwin) were initially looking at first innings score of 360 but as time passed, batting became easier so we looked at 400-run total,” he said.
On Day 4, India would be eager to dismiss Bangladesh in the first few sessions. The hosts managed to score 42 runs without losing a single wicket by the time Day 3 came to a close. Earlier, after taking a 254-run lead at the end of the first innings, veteran Cheteshwar Pujara scored a ton after a wait of 1443 and opener Shubman Gill also scored his maiden ton to help his team set a target of 513 runs.
