KL Rahul posts updates on social media following successful surgery on right thigh
With his right thigh injury successfully treated by surgery, veteran Indian batsman KL Rahul is eager to rejoin the team as soon as possible. The 31-year-old sustained a thigh injury earlier this month while playing for his Indian Premier League team, Lucknow Super Giants, against Royal Challengers Bangalore. As a result, he was ruled out from both the T20 competition and the Test Championship final versus Australia in England the following month.
Rahul said that he was “determined” to play again after Ishan Kishan was selected to represent India in the World T20 final, which will take place at The Oval from June 7 to 12. Rahul, a player who excels across all formats, would aim to rejoin the team in time for the Asia Cup before the ODI World Cup in India later this year.
“Hi everyone, I just got done with my surgery. It was successful. A big thank you to the doctors and medical staff for making sure I was comfortable and everything went smoothly.”I am officially on the road to recovery now. I am determined to get back to my best and get back on the field. Onwards and upwards.”
What are the other injuries in the Indian camp for the Test Championship final?
Rahul’s injury isn’t the only setback for India; pacers Jaydev Unadkat, along with Umesh Yadav, are also being attentively watched by the NCA’s medical staff. Unadkat, a left-arm pacer, who played in the IPL, injured his left shoulder while bowling in the nets. He is currently receiving strength and rehab training. His participation in the Test Championship match has not yet been decided.
The medical staff is keeping an eye on Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Umesh Yadav, who also suffered a slight left hamstring strain during the IPL. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the replacement opener for Rohit Sharma, along with Shubman Gill, while Suryakumar Yadav, the team’s middle-order batter, occupy two of the three standby positions on India’s final squad.
