Lucknow lost their match by a margin of 18 runs against Bangalore. The woes for the team have seemingly not ended there. Two of their prime players have been found guilty of breaching the code of conduct in the match.

The skipper of the Lucknow team, KL Rahul has been fined 20 percent of his match fees for the breach. While his teammate Marcus Stoinis has been reprimanded for a level 1 offense in the match.

The breach of both the players has not been specified, but Stoinis has probably been reprimanded for letting out his frustration over a controversial call from the umpire. In the penultimate over of the match, the umpire refrained from calling a wide of a Josh Hazlewood delivery, that was bowled way outside the tram line. In the very next ball, Stoinis was dismissed and he did not shy away from expressing his discontent over the previous call. Both the players have admitted the offense and accepted the charges.

The Indian T20 League authorities stated in a press release – “Lucknow captain, KL Rahul has been fined 20 percent of his match fee for breaching the Indian T20 League’s Code of Conduct during his team’s match against Bangalore at the DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai. Mr. Rahul admitted to the Level 1 offence of the ITL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction.”

“Marcus Stoinis from Lucknow has been reprimanded. Mr. Stoinis admitted to the Level 1 offence of the ITL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,”- the release added on Stoinis’ development.

With the win against Lucknow, Bangalore has found its way into the top 2 of the points table for the Indian T20 League 2022. The team is seemingly hit a good rhythm in the tournament and has won five of their seven matches in the campaign.
