Ishan Kishan, who has been waiting in the wings for a while, has finally become a part of the Indian Test team set-up. In the opening game of the two-match Test series versus the West Indies, he made his debut.

The left-handed batter only scored one run in his first Test appearance, but he made amends by scoring a gallant fifty in the second match. That swashbuckling innings was enough for the fans to be reminded of an aggressive Indian wicketkeeper in the Indian team.

During the second innings in the final match involving India and West Indies, Kishan achieved his first Test fifty. On Day 4 of the game, when Kishan was given the opportunity to bat ahead of Viatrt Kohli, he switched to a T20 mindset.

With consecutive sixes, the 25-year-old reached fifty in style by scoring a six. Kishan’s two sixes using one hand reminded fans of Rishabh Pant’s incredible one-handed sixes. On Twitter, many users linked Kishan’s single-handed sixes together with Pant’s playing style.

Additionally, Kishan used a unique bat with the inscription “RP17” to reach fifty. Rishabh Pant 17 is how this was translated. Following the mesmeric performance against the West Indies, fans expressed their emotions on Twitter.

India vs West Indies – Day Four!

Kishan moved up the list to No. 4 from his initial spot at No. 7. In the third innings, the Indian team opener got off to a historic start. They were able to achieve the fastest fifty partnership for India in Test matches when Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal began the innings. They assisted India in setting a new record worldwide for the fastest side to reach the 50-run mark in the format and also by guiding the side to a fifty in just 33 balls.

India scored 181 runs in their second innings and gave the Windies a tricky chase of 365 runs with approximately 130 overs still left in the game. Kraigg Brathwaite, captain of the West Indies, started things off for his side with a significant knock that came from being slightly aggressive and displayed his full range of shots despite the small possibilities of success.

Young opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul held his ground and showed his defence more often than not as he supported his captain well. West Indies’ aspirations of closing the day unblemished were crushed by Ashwin, who claimed two early wickets that assisted India in regaining the upper hand.
