Indian Cricket is currently going through a turbulent time after criticism for their trophy draught grows bigger. Following the 20-20 World Cup disappointment in Australia, the entirety of the selectors’ committee was sacked for coming up with a poor team with the head selector Chetan Sharma also being one of them.

Now after a couple of months though, Chetan Sharma has been reappointed as the head coach for the selection committee. The Indian Cricket Board has invited applications for selection committee seats. It was revealed that thousands of applications were received but yet again the Indian Cricket Board decided to bring in the same Chetan Sharma who received a lot of flak a month ago.

There were reports however that Chetan Sharma has re-applied for the position and those later turned out to be true. The Cricket Advisory Committee went through the applications and selected Sharma yet again.

“The Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) comprising Ms. Sulakshana Naik, Mr. Ashok Malhotra, and Mr. Jatin Paranjape undertook an extensive process for selecting members of the All-India Senior Selection Committee. The Board received around 600 applications following its advertisement for the five posts issued on its official website on 18th November 2022.

“Upon due deliberation and careful consideration, the CAC shortlisted 11 individuals for personal interviews. Based on the interviews, the Committee has recommended the following candidates for the Senior Men’s National Selection Committee,” read a statement from the board.

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Chetan Sharma’s re-appointment as head selector:
