On 28 June 2023, England took on Australia in the second Test of the ongoing Ashes series at the Lord’s. After losing the series opener at Edgbaston, Ben Stokes and his men are looking for a win while the Aussies are looking for a 2-0 lead. Speaking of the match, Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Meanwhile, during the match, an image went viral where the former Indian Cricket Board President, Sourav Ganguly was seen attending the game from the stands of the Lord’s. Seeing that image, fans went crazy and shared their views on social media. He got caught in the cameras during the 35th over of Australia’s innings.

England managed only two wickets in the first two sessions on day one of the Lord’s Test

Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith were batting. Meanwhile, on 27 June, the full fixture of the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023 came out and regarding that, Ganguly shared a tweet to congratulate the Indian Cricket Board. He wrote: “Look forward to the World Cup in india .. missed out as president due to covid ..what a spectacle it will be ..great venues .. great allocations. So many venues no country can boast of ..Indian Cricket Board will make it a tournament to remember for the world .. congratulations to all at the Indian Cricket Board @jayshah Roger Binny and all the other office bearers ..and staff ..” Speaking of the ongoing Ashes match, the Aussies managed a good start to the match despite being asked to bat first in an overcast condition. 

In the first session, they scored 73 runs for one wicket in 23.1 overs. Then, the second session also went well as they finished the session with a score of 190 runs for two wickets in 50 overs. Usman Khawaja failed to continue his form from the last game as he scored just 17 runs off 70 balls, including two fours. While, Warner scored 66 runs off 88 balls, including eight fours and one six. Josh Tongue replaced Moeen Ali in the playing XIfor this match and the move has worked so far in favour of the team. He has taken both these wickets with two peach of deliveries that rattled their stumps. Both batters were left stunned by the dismissals. After two sessions, Steve Smith was batting 38* runs and Labuschagne was batting on 45* runs.
