‘Kabhi to khush ho liye kar’ – Fans troll Mark Waugh as he calls Ahmedabad pitch ’22-day wicket’

The Ahmedabad Test has been the high-scoring game in the first four days.

Former Australia cricketer Mark Waugh has criticized the Ahmedabad wicket on which the ongoing fourth BGT Test is being played. Over the course of the four-match series, the pitches across four venues – Nagpur, Delhi, Indore, and Ahmedabad have been in discussion. In the first three Tests, all these games were completed in three days. Another common thing in these games was the wicket helping the spinners.

The pitches in Delhi and Indore were criticized heavily as both games were low-scoring affairs. Also, the Indore wicket was rated poor while the first two venues escaped with average ratings. Meanwhile, in the ongoing fourth game, the game is set to get to the fifth day for the time in the series. Also, it has happened for the first time in the series that a game has reached the fourth day. Meanwhile, Waugh, who was part of the commentary team in India for the first two games, has once again criticized the wicket.

“the last 3 Tests were on 2 days pitch, this is on a 22 day pitch”, Mark Waugh said.

Mark Waught hasn’t criticized the wicket for the first time

During the early part of the ongoing game, the former Australia batter pointed out that curators in Australia are told months in advance to prepare the wickets.

“This is not on. I don’t know how you don’t know what pitch you’re playing on. In Australia, I think the groundsman and curators are told months in advance, so they set up the pitch for the camera, the side-screen, the spectators. But in India, it’s different,” Waugh said on FOX Cricket.

“It’s a bit like county cricket. You used to turn up to county grounds and there would be three pitches prepared depending on who turned up for the opposition side, then they would decide. I don’t know what’s going on here but I think something needs to be done about this.”
